Krista Richardson

"Well it's not like me to speak my mind
Sometimes the words are hard to find
But I'm steppin' out and fittin' in
This is where the fun begins..."

- That's Not Me, by Krista Richardson

Nineteen-year-old Krista Richardson is a native of the Pacific Northwest, and spent most of her youth in the rurals of eastern Oregon. She began writing poetry at age nine, and is a prolific songwriter to this day.

Music has always played an important role in Krista's life, and she credits her musical talents to her family. Her mother Diana Rijnhart, and uncle Brian Underhill were founding members of the original Brian Underhill Band (1979-1984) and she has taken a place in the recently reunited band on guitar, keyboards, and vocals, and has written or co-written many of the band's newest songs.

Krista learned the piano from her mother, the guitar from her uncle, and learned to yodel at age 5 thanks to her mother and grandmother. Her family claims that she learned to sing even before she could talk!

Krista is married to the New Brian Underhill Band's photographer and soundman, Lucas Richardson, and is an avid photographer herself. Her musical influences over the years have included the Dixie Chicks, Emmylou Harris, George Strait, Kasey Chambers, Lucinda Williams, Nanci Griffith, Norah Jones, Shania Twain, and Tim McGraw. These days she enjoys music ranging from bluegrass to rock with a bit of everything else thrown in.
