You know, it's not like we don't all wanna play, it's just we've got a half-dozen different people with a half-dozen schedules, a half-dozen families, and more than a half-dozen distractions.
One of these days, we'll actually get this thing organized again (for a summer at least!) and hit the road. Don't think that's likely this summer, but you know, there's always the Brian Underhill Band 30th Reunion Tour option for Summer 2012...
Thought I'd best post something here so nobody thinks the whole "New Brian Underhill Band" thing has gone by the wayside. Truth is, it's gone by the wayside, but not completely.
We're having trouble getting everyone together at the same time to practice. Stefan (drummer) works evenings most of the time, while Tom (bass player) works days. Krista (guitar/vocals/songwriter) is relatively free, but her husband works odd hours which makes it kind of hard for her to get together, and Diana (piano/vocals) is working a 9-5 like Tommy. Me? I can make it most any time I'm not under a nasty deadline, but a lot of the time that just means I'd show up by myself to practice. Not exactly conducive to a five-piece band.
At the moment, the plan is to try to arrange some regular practice sessions that are acceptible to most of us (Saturdays from about 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., anyone?), and try to get some demos cut of the new songs. Then we can think about actually recording them later this winter. If we ever get together...
More down the road as things develop.
Due to some miscommunication, the local media has the band listed as playing this coming Sunday at the Kelso Bridge Market. It's on the TV, in the paper, etc, but it's not correct.
We never were scheduled to play, so it's not a case of backing out. It's a case of talking to someone about it, then seeing my name on television out of the blue. We've tried to get a retraction, and even to get the ad pulled (for about two weeks now), but it still hasn't been done. So to make sure and set the record straight: We won't be playing at the Kelso Bridge Market, we never were going to, we never said we would, we never planned it. And once again: We won't be there. :)
Spread the word, please. :)
After weeks of behind the scenes work and whispered rumors, the New Brian Underhill Band website is finally open. No, there's not much here, but at least it's more than was here yesterday.
The band is in its earliest stages of reuniting, with no plans on doing any live shows for several months yet. But word has leaked to many old fans, and the constant clamor - or at least occassional email - has finally prodded the band to action.
The web site will eventually contain not only bios and pictures of the band, as well as a history of the original Brian Underhill Band, but samples of their music, and information about an upcoming CD release, performance schedule, and more.
If you'd like to get in touch with the band, for the time being you can drop an email to band@brianunderhill.com. Someone will likely answer, though nobody will guarantee a time frame.
In the meantime, hang tight. There's more to come!
